About 300 people joined a rally in Caernarfon on Saturday to oppose plans for a new data centre in Gwynedd, the BBC reported. The demonstration was organized over concerns about how the proposed facility would affect the local area. [1]

Developers want to build the complex on a 101-acre site located between Caernarfon and Y Felinheli, according to the BBC. The developer, Canolfan Ddata Menai, stated that the scheme would revitalise a long-derelict location. [1]

The project could generate more than 900 jobs during construction, the BBC reported. It is also projected to create 200 permanent operational positions once completed. [1]

Local opposition to the project extends beyond the rally. The BBC reported that more than 22,500 people have signed a petition opposing the proposed development. [1]
