The Victorian Labor government has expanded its energy upgrades program to include subsidies for home ceiling insulation, RenewEconomy reported on October 8, 2026. The expanded scheme provides discounts ranging between $1,500 and $2,100 on ceiling insulation installation costs. [1]

According to RenewEconomy, the new discounts cover up to half the cost of an average insulation installation. The rebate aims to lower energy bills for households across the Australian state. [1]

RenewEconomy reported that almost 60 per cent of Victorian homes currently have little or no ceiling insulation. This lack of insulation forces residents to spend more on heating in the winter and cooling in the summer. [1]

High-efficiency insulation is one of several technologies used to create zero-energy buildings. These structures balance their annual energy consumption through on-site or off-site renewable sources alongside efficient equipment like heat pumps and solar panels. [2]
