The site of one of Australia's first wind farms now shows little evidence of ever having hosted turbines, RenewEconomy reported. Photographs shared by the state energy company show ongoing work to return the decommissioned project on the south coast of Western Australia to its natural state. [1]
According to RenewEconomy, the former Esperance wind farm site included the nine-turbine Ten Mile Lagoon project, which was fully commissioned before its retirement. [1]
A wind farm consists of a group of wind turbines in one location used to generate electricity. These facilities can be built onshore or offshore, ranging from a small group of turbines to several hundred spread across a large area. [3]
State energy contractors are continuing restoration efforts at the Ten Mile Lagoon location to completely recover the natural landscape. [1]
