Energy companies have started shutting in platforms in the Gulf of Mexico ahead of Hurricane Isaias, Oilprice reported. Shell and Chevron are stopping production on multiple offshore facilities as the storm moves toward the United States coast. [4][7]

Shell is evacuating all personnel from five platforms, according to Oilprice. The affected facilities include Mars, Olympus, Ursa, Vito, and Appomattox. CubaHeadlines also reported that the storm has disrupted Gulf oil production and raised concerns about gas prices in Florida. [3][4]

The storm has knocked offline 1.28 million barrels per day of U.S. Gulf crude production, Oilprice reported. This is an increase from 185,120 barrels per day two days earlier. According to figures from the Marine Minerals Administration cited by Oilprice, 62.89 percent of current Gulf oil production and 57.35 percent of natural gas production have been shut in as operators clear staff from the path of the storm. [7]

Other energy producers are continuing their operational plans despite the broader market disruptions. Kalkine Media reported that NuvIsta Energy is advancing its production strategy while crude markets show resilience. [1]
