Russian seaborne refined oil product shipments rose to a three month high in September, Rigzone, mezha.net, and Briefs Finance reported. Total exports reached approximately 1.17 million barrels a day during the month. [1][3][4]
Data from Vortexa shows that stronger flows of fuel oil and naphtha offset a sharp drop in diesel shipments, according to Rigzone. Diesel and gasoil exports fell to 144,000 barrels a day, which is the lowest monthly volume recorded in Vortexa data going back more than ten years. [1]
Rigzone reported that Russia restricted diesel exports to maintain domestic supplies after Ukrainian attacks on its refineries. Russia holds the sixth largest oil reserves in the world, and its petroleum sector is among the largest globally. [1][5]
Russian officials are considering whether to permit some producers to resume diesel exports this month, according to Rigzone. The decision aims to avoid overstocking domestic supplies. [1]
