Scotland is preparing for a third storm in three days following severe weather over the weekend, BBC News reported. The Met Office stated that wind gusts reaching 65 miles per hour, or 105 kilometres per hour, would affect south-west coastal communities from Monday evening into the morning, accompanied by heavy rain. [1]
The latest weather system has not been named and is expected to be less disruptive than the preceding storms. The next name on the Met Office storm list for the 2026 and 2027 season is Chloe, according to BBC News. [1]
The previous storm, Storm Boelo, brought heavy flooding and wind gusts reaching 85 miles per hour on Monday, BBC News reported. A 60-year-old man died on Sunday at Mid Kelton, near Castle Douglas in Dumfries and Galloway, after a falling tree struck him. [1]
As FTMQ Climate reported earlier, Scotland previously faced widespread travel disruptions, including ScotRail line closures and Network Rail speed restrictions, due to yellow and amber weather warnings issued for both Storm Austen and Storm Boelo. [3][4]
Local communities across the country continue clean-up operations as the new weather system moves across the region, BBC News reported. [1]
