The Democratic Party won control of both houses of the United States Congress in the midterm elections on November 3, 2026, according to Wikipedia. Dailyhunt and oEnergetice.cz reported that the victory leaves the energy policy of President Donald Trump facing two years of close legislative scrutiny. Dailyhunt noted that President Trump did not contest the election results and complemented the Democrats. [1][2][8]

The midterm elections involved contests for all 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and 35 of the 100 seats in the U.S. Senate to determine the 120th United States Congress. Thirty-nine state and territorial gubernatorial elections were also contested, with the Democratic Party winning a majority of seats in both congressional houses and among state governorships. [8]

Following the election, President Trump ordered the Department of Justice to investigate Democrats, according to Al Jazeera, Reuters, and The Washington Post. Bloomberg.com reported that President Trump threatened Democrats over their stated plans to investigate members of his administration. [4][5][6][7]

As FTMQ Climate reported earlier, Democratic lawmakers plan to launch inquiries into Trump administration energy actions and public land policies. FTMQ Climate previously reported that European wind power share prices rose after the midterm results, while Wall Street indexes and global stock markets fell. [9]
