Wisconsin utility We Energies has announced plans to build a new natural gas-fired power plant in Wrightstown, Wisconsin. Power Magazine reported that the utility filed an engineering plan with state regulators earlier in October 2026 for a 750-megawatt station at the existing Fox Energy Center. [1]

The proposed facility, named Fox North, will be constructed at the site of an existing gas-fired facility in the Fox Valley region. Power Magazine reported that We Energies has not yet disclosed an estimated cost for the power plant project. [1]

Gas-fired power plants burn natural gas to generate electricity and currently produce nearly a quarter of the world electricity supply. They remain significant sources of greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. [4]

The project is located in Wrightstown, situated in the Fox Cities region of Wisconsin. Wisconsin is the 21st most populous state in the United States, with a population of approximately six million people. [1][5]
