Xcimer Energy has finalized an agreement with the United States Department of Energy for up to 30.5 million dollars in additional federal funding, Power Magazine reported on October 6, 2026. The award is provided through the Milestone-Based Fusion Development Program. [1]
Power Magazine reported that the new funding covers the second budget period of the program. This agreement brings the total potential milestone payments awarded to Xcimer Energy by the Department of Energy to 39.5 million dollars. [1]
The Milestone-Based Fusion Development Program is managed by the Department of Energy Office of Fusion Energy Sciences to support commercialization and the development of a fusion pilot plant. Eight private companies received a combined total of 46 million dollars for the initial 18 month phase. [2]
