Citroen unveils electric 2CV concept car scheduled for 2028 release

Citroen has revealed a concept electric version of its classic 2CV model on October 11, 2026. Electrek reported that the French automaker aims to bring the new electric vehicle to the market in 2028 with a target price of 15,000 euros. The original Citroen 2CV was an economy car produced by the French manufacturer from 1948 to 1990 after being introduced at the 1948 Paris Salon de l'Automobile. The initial model featured a front-mounted air-cooled engine that drove the front wheels. Electrek noted that the name 2CV stands for Deux Chevaux, which translates from French as two horses, and that the original vehicle sold millions of units over its production run during the second half of the twentieth century.
