Mercedes-AMG has unveiled the AMG GT SUV, an all-electric performance vehicle that delivers up to 1,153 horsepower, Electrek and InsideEVs reported. The vehicle represents the first full-size SUV that AMG has developed entirely on its own. It features three axial-flux electric motors and a 128 kilowatt-hour 800-volt battery system. [1][2]
The SUV supports direct-current fast charging at peak power reaching up to 710 kilowatts, according to Electrek and InsideEVs. InsideEVs reported that the system can execute a 10 to 80 percent charge in 12 minutes on the GT 55 and GT 63 model variants. The vehicle also incorporates an active suspension system designed to control pitch as well as body roll. [1][2]
The AMG GT SUV functions as a high-riding sibling to the AMG GT 4-Door vehicle, InsideEVs reported. The AMG GT 4-Door Coupé is an executive performance car that was initially introduced by Mercedes-AMG in 2018. [2][7]
The new model is positioned to compete against the Porsche Cayenne Electric, according to Electrek. Deliveries and sales in the United States are scheduled to begin in the summer of 2027, Electrek and InsideEVs reported. [1][2]
