Two men have died from falling trees and 160,000 properties have been left without power as Storm Boelo swept across the United Kingdom on October 25, 2026. BBC News Science, the BBC, The Guardian, LBC, and LADbible all reported the two fatalities and the extent of the electricity outages. An amber wind warning issued for the severe weather has since expired. [1][2][3][4][6]
The Metropolitan Police said officers were called to Dollis Road in Finchley around 12:40 GMT after a tree fell onto a moving vehicle, killing a young man at the scene, according to BBC News Science. London Ambulance Service sent incident response officers, paramedics from a hazardous area response team, and a trauma team from London's Air Ambulance. Police Scotland reported that another man died in southern Scotland near Castle Douglas after being struck by a falling tree. [1]
LBC reported that the man who died in Scotland was 60 years old. AOL.co.uk reported that the storm left damage across Scotland as it moved through the region. [4][5]
The storm follows severe weather earlier in the week. As FTMQ Climate reported earlier, Storm Austen cut power to more than 10,000 homes in southern England and Wales, where peak winds reached between 84 mph and 110 mph. The events take place during the 2026 to 2027 European windstorm season, which runs from September 2026 through August 2027. [7][8]
